{Our Wedding}: The First Look

Welcome to the first installment of “Our Wedding” posts from the Desert Bride! As you may already know, I became a desert bride myself earlier this year. I learned a LOT throughout the planning process and have been dying to share my experiences and photos with you. Instead of overwhelming you (and myself!) with one gigantic post, I’ll be splitting things up into small, easily digestible topics :)

I knew early on in my wedding planning that this photo op was a must. My husband and I had a very nontraditional approach to planning so breaking tradition wasn’t a factor for us. We wanted to see each other for the first time in private (minus the photographers and videographers, of course) and to be able to savor that incredibly special moment between just the two of us.

Being able to run up to my soon-to-be hubby and then hug, kiss, laugh and just stare at each other without an audience or the pressure of having to get the ceremony started was priceless. We were able to talk and tell each other how much we loved each other and how excited we were to be getting married later that day. Words can not describe how magical our first look really was, so I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Can ya feel the love? :)   An added bonus to doing a first look was that we had plenty of time for our portraits before the ceremony (2 hours to be exact…but more on that in another post).

PS:  For anyone that might be wondering if that moment when we first saw each other as I walked down the aisle was any less exciting, let’s just say there were tears and deep breaths and butterflies to spare from the both of us!
